More than 30 US state attorneys general are preparing an investigation against Alphabet Inc Google for potential antitrust violations.

US prosecutors are seriously interested in Google

Prosecutor’s office Texas leads a group of law enforcement officials that plans to announce an investigation in September.

Google said it is collaborating with government officials.

«We continue to work constructively with regulators, including attorneys general, to answer questions about our business and technology sector», – said company spokesman Jose Castaneda.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed requests in June along with 42 other state officials who have called on the FTC to focus on privacy and data collection when investigating potential antitrust violations.

In a commentary, government officials argued that the volume of user data from large tech firms is destroying competition in this segment.

The reality is that tech giants, some of the richest and most powerful companies in the world, are facing increased antitrust scrutiny from Congress, federal agencies, and now state attorneys general..

In July, the Justice Department announced that it is embarking on an extensive investigation into the activities of large digital firms, focusing on whether they are engaging in anti-competitive practices.. The investigation is believed to be directed against Google, Amazon.com Inc and Facebook Inc, and potentially Apple Inc.

Separately, the Federal Trade Commission, which also enforces antitrust compliance, is additionally scrutinizing Amazon and Facebook to determine if they have abused their huge market power in retail and social media, respectively..
